Dr. Eddie Patton is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has additional training and expertise in neuromuscular disorders.
Dr. Patton received his medical degree at Wayne State University, where he was recognized with the Distinguished Service Award and the Marjorie Edwards Award for Scholarship and Community Service. While in medical school he was co-founder and co-director of the Young Doctors of Detroit High School and Middle School Mentoring Program. He subsequently completed neurology residency training and a neuromuscular disease fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. He graduated from the Jones School of Business at Rice University with a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
He has served in numerous positions on the board of the Texas Neurological Society including president of the organization. Other positions include chair of the Medical Legislation Committee of Harris County Medical Society, past president of Harris County Medical Society-Southwest Branch, being a member of the Government Relations Committee of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), and chair of the Federal Advocacy Work Group for the American Academy of Neurology. He is a graduate of the Emerging Leaders Forum sponsored by the AAN Class of 2016 and of the Texas Medical Association’s Leadership College. He has been named among Texas Monthly magazine’s SuperDoctors® and Houstonia magazine’s Top Doctors. Dr. Patton desires to have a positive impact on the future of health care and supports this through his work with innovative health care companies and technologies. His skill set includes leadership, health care policy, and a commitment to high quality patient care.
Dr. Patton’s research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and he has presented on topics ranging from neuromuscular disease cases, to new treatments and technologies for stroke, to the effects of spirituality on end-of-life decision-making. His mission is to provide quality, compassionate care to his patients, based on trust and good communication about care and treatment.
Collaboration with Referring Physicians
Physicians at UTHealth Houston Neurosciences engage referring physicians in the care of their patients, keeping them informed about patient progress throughout the evaluation and treatment process. After a patient’s treatment, referring physicians receive a summary and a plan for follow-up. Our physicians encourage continued communication about each patient.
