2025 Post-Stroke Care Conference Concludes with Record Attendance

More than 250 leaders in stroke research, clinicians, patients, and caregivers attended the 2025 Stroke Transitions of Care and Post-Stroke Care Conference held in October at Hotel ZaZa in Houston’s Museum District. Chaired by neurologist and stroke expert Anjail Z. Sharrief, MD, MPH, the conference was hosted by McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where she is a professor of neurology and director of stroke prevention at the Institute of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease.

She also leads the Stroke Clinic and the Stroke Transitions Education and Prevention (STEP) Clinical Program, which she founded at the medical school in 2014. Attendees explored best practices and priorities in post-stroke care and participated in patient- and caregiver-informed think tanks. Conference goals included providing multidisciplinary learning across neurology, cardiology, rehabilitation, nursing, pharmacy, and social work and supporting early-career clinicians and investigators by giving them the opportunity to present research and receive expert feedback.
