Joey England, MD is a board-certified maternal-fetal medicine specialist and a respected leader in high-risk obstetrics. She serves as Assistant Professor in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. She also holds leadership roles as Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Memorial Hermann Hospital – Memorial City and across the Houston West Region, and as Vice Chair for Patient Safety and Quality in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
Dr. England earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at UTMB in Galveston, followed by a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. She completed her undergraduate studies at Texas Christian University, earning a Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in Spanish.
With more than a decade of experience, Dr. England has led efforts in clinical innovation, patient safety, and interdisciplinary care for medically complex pregnancies. Her professional interests include maternal hypertension, diabetes in pregnancy, fetal growth restriction, and multiple gestation. She has been consistently recognized as a “Top Doctor” by Houstonia Magazine and Castle Connolly, and is regularly named a Texas Rising Star Super Doctor.
Dr. England has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has presented nationally on topics such as opioid use in pregnancy, cardiovascular disease in women, prenatal imaging, and maternal metabolic health. Her research contributions span both clinical practice and public health, with a focus on improving outcomes for high-risk pregnancies through evidence-based care.
She is an active member of several professional societies, including the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
