Biography

Dr. Montealegre is a minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon with UT Physicians. He is an Associate Professor at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, where he is the Co-Director of the Advanced Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Fellowship. He completed his medical school education in Costa Rica at the Autonomous University of Central America. He completed his residency training at Tulane University and Methodist/St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, graduating in 2007. After six years in private practice, he joined McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston in 2014. Dr. Montealegre is passionate about women’s health and improving the delivery and outcomes of gynecologic surgery through minimally invasive techniques. He has devoted his practice to performing and teaching minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. In his spare time, Dr. Montealegre enjoys traveling, sailing, windsurfing, and brewing beer.
