Chemical Peel

Chemical Peel

Chemical peeling is the process of applying a solution to the skin to exfoliate and peel it off. There are various formulations of chemical peels that are designed to precisely peel to different depths. Superficial peels are the most gentle of peels, this peel will remove only the outer layer of skin. It has a very short down time and will improve mild skin discoloration and improve the rough texture of skin. A medium depth peel will penetrate both the outermost later and middle layer of skin. This type of peel will improve age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, and smooth the skin as well. For patients with deeper wrinkles, age spots and shallow scars, a deep peel will be necessary. With improvements in laser technology, these patients will also be good candidates for laser resurfacing.
