Biography

Essam Manuel Imseis, MD, is a board-certified pediatric gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist, currently serving as Professor of Pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. With more than two decades of clinical, academic, and leadership experience, Imseis holds multiple prestigious roles including Medical Director of Pediatric Liver Transplantation and Pediatric Intestinal Rehabilitation at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, McGovern Medical School’s closest affiliated hospital. He also directs the Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship Training Program and leads the Pediatric Gastroenterology Clinic at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital.

Imseis earned his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, magna cum laude, from Louisiana State University (LSU), and his Doctor of Medicine from LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport. He completed his residency in pediatrics at LSU Health Sciences Center and a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at the University of Michigan Health System.

A respected clinician, educator, and researcher, Imseis has been recognized with numerous teaching awards and has consistently been named a Top Doctor by Houstonia magazine and Castle Connolly. His research focuses on pediatric liver disease, intestinal failure, and transplant outcomes, and he has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. Imseis also contributes to national committees and serves as a reviewer and editor for several leading medical journals.
