Biography

Hunter Hamilton, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Critical Care Medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Board certified in both General Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Dr. Hamilton serves as a Pediatric Intensivist at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Dr. Hamilton earned his medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and completed pediatric residency at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he also served a year as Chief Resident. He then pursued a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee.

A dedicated educator and mentor, Dr. Hamilton is active in curriculum development and graduate medical education and has received multiple teaching awards, including the Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award and the Junior Faculty Educator Award. He has designed a wide range of clinical and didactic educational materials for residents, fellows, and nurses, and he plays a key role in resident mentorship and faculty development initiatives.

Past scholarly work includes publications on pediatric sepsis, children with medical complexity, and social determinants of health. Current interests include quality improvement, education innovation, and simulation. Dr. Hamilton has presented at national conferences and serves on multiple institutional and national committees, contributing to both clinical excellence and educational innovation in pediatric critical care.
