Biography

Nikita Khetan, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician specializing in pediatric hospital medicine. She is an associate professor in the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine within the Department of Pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. She provides comprehensive inpatient care at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and Memorial Hermann–Texas Medical Center and manages a broad range of acute, chronic, and medically complex pediatric conditions.

Dr. Khetan earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency training at UTHealth Houston. She is board certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. Her clinical interests include hospital-based quality improvement, respiratory care management, and the care of medically complex children. She has contributed to scholarly work in these areas, with publications and presentations on topics such as central line–associated bloodstream infections and pediatric tuberculosis meningitis.

In addition to her clinical duties, Dr. Khetan is actively involved in medical education. She serves as Director of Residency Scholarship, Clinical Competency Committee Chair, Program Evaluation Committee Chair, and Co-Director of the Pediatric Inpatient Rotation. Through these roles, she integrates academic scholarship with clinical training. As a dedicated faculty mentor, she guides medical students and residents in inpatient management initiatives, educational and professional growth throughout training, and clinical research, fostering a culture of inquiry, evidence-based practice, and lifelong learning within the department.
