Dr. Bibek Raj Bista donates medical supplies in Nepal

On his recent trip to his home country of Nepal, Bibek Raj Bista, MBBS, MPH, assistant professor of pediatric critical care, had an opportunity to meet with the faculty of Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS) in Patan and B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan, Nepal. Dr. Bista hand-delivered some donated medical supplies collected from Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital (CMMH).

PAHS has launched the first Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship in Nepal. Dr. Bista met their fellows and faculty, attended didactics and visited their PICU where he donated Direct Laryngoscopy set for pediatrics and a transport ventilator. This equipment can be used for direct patient care including endotracheal intubation and for transportation of endotracheally intubated patients in the hospital.

At BPKIHS, Dr. Bista met pediatric anesthesia and ENT faculty and donated supplies for intubation. They appreciated the donation as these materials make care more accessible to patients who cannot afford it. “We appreciate Angel Haver, BS, RRT, at CMMH, for arranging those supplies for the donation,” Dr. Bista said.
