Charles Boren, DO, CAQSM, is an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Board-certified in both Pediatrics and Sports Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Boren brings a comprehensive and compassionate approach to pediatric care, with a special focus on sports-related injuries and musculoskeletal health in children and adolescents.
Dr. Boren earned his Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of North Texas Health Science Center’s Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois, followed by a Sports Medicine Fellowship at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa in San Antonio, Texas.
Throughout his career, Dr. Boren has been actively involved in research and education, delivering numerous presentations on topics ranging from apophysitis and osteochondrosis to concussion management and pediatric fracture care. His work has been recognized with several honors, including the Dean’s Excellence in Teaching award and multiple research scholarships.
A dedicated community advocate, Dr. Boren has volunteered extensively in school physicals, mobile clinics, and marathon medical coverage. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Texas Pediatric Society, and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
