Ava Henson, MS, earned her Master of Science in Genetic Counseling from The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center UTHealth Houston Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. She also holds a Master of Science in Multidisciplinary Biomedical Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Genetics and Genomic Sciences, both from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Ava’s academic and clinical journey reflects a deep commitment to understanding and supporting individuals with genetic conditions. Her clinical interests focus on phenylketonuria (PKU), inpatient genetics, and improving genetic counseling training within medical genetics graduate programs. She is particularly passionate about bridging the gap between complex genetic information and patient care to provide personalized, compassionate support.
Throughout her training, Ava has developed a strong foundation in human genetics, biomedical sciences, and counseling skills. She is dedicated to advancing access to genetic services across a variety of health care settings and to contributing to the education and mentorship of future genetic counselors.
