Harish Eswaran, MD, is an assistant professor of hematology with joint appointments in the Department of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. He specializes in the diagnosis and management of blood and clotting disorders in adults, with a focus on compassionate, patient-centered care and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Dr. Eswaran completed his fellowship in hematology at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill, where he served as chief fellow and was supported by a North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute Pilot Grant as well as a federally funded research fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Steven Grover and Dr. Stephan Moll. He completed his internal medicine residency at UNC and earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He holds a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Biology and Music from Duke University.
His academic and clinical interests center on hemostasis and thrombosis, bleeding and vascular disorders with research interests in coagulation and venous thromboembolism. He serves on the Next Generation Editorial Board Program for the journal Vascular Medicine. He also has a strong interest in trainee recruitment and education in hematology and served as chair of the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society Clinical Fellows Network from 2024-2025.
Dr. Eswaran has been recognized with numerous awards, including the American Society of Hematology Abstract Achievement Award, the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis Early Career Travel Award, the Society for Vascular Medicine Alan T. Hirsch Travel Award, and induction into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. His work reflects a commitment to clinical excellence, leadership, and service.
