April is about awareness!

Child Abuse Prevention and Autism Awareness Month: April 1-30

To commemorate Child Abuse Prevention, the Child Safety and Integrated Care Division is gathering donations of diapers and wipes through an Amazon Wish List (external link) to supply essential items for at-risk children.

Half of the proceeds will benefit Harris County B.E.A.R room, providing basic necessities year-round for at-risk and CPS-involved children, while the other half will be distributed to the CARE Clinic to help patients and families in need.

Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics Division Chief Gabriel Anzueto, MD, have targeted media efforts in the works for Autism Awareness, so be on the lookout!

Heatstroke Prevention Social Media Contest deadline: April 15

The Injury Free Coalition for Kids is encouraging postgraduate medical, nursing, or public health students; medical trainees at any level; and pediatric and ED nurses to design a social media post to raise awareness and help prevent vehicular heatstroke.
