Biography

Sonia Labarinas, MD, is an associate professor in the Children’s Heart Institute, Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. She completed pediatric residency as well as pediatric critical care fellowship at Geneva Children’s Hospital in Switzerland, then pursued another critical care fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital. She continued her career in the Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Unit. Her interests lay in pediatric oncology, transfusion medicine, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). In 2023, Dr. Labarinas became the co-director of the Children’s Heart Institute pediatric ECMO program.
