Katie Strachan, MD

Biography

Katie Strachan, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician serving as an assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Dr. Strachan earned her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center College of Medicine. She then completed her pediatric residency at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where she was honored with the Dr. Marnie Rose Award, presented annually to outstanding senior resident physicians. She then went on to serve as Chief Resident at UTHealth Houston.

Dr. Strachan is dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality, evidence-based care for hospitalized children, with a particular interest in caring for children with complex medical and rehabilitation needs. She is committed to partnering with patients and their families, empowering them with knowledge and providing support as they navigate the challenges of injury, illness, and recovery.

Her academic interests include resident and medical student education, injury prevention, and improving the care of hospitalized children. She is passionate about advancing pediatric hospital medicine through clinical excellence, mentorship, and quality improvement initiatives that enhance outcomes for children and their families.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Strachan enjoys traveling, gardening, reading, crafting, and spending time with her family and cats.
