Laura Keehan, MD

Biography

Laura Anne Keehan, MD, is an assistant professor in the Division of Medical Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Baylor College of Medicine, specializing in the Genetics and Genomics Pathway, and holds a Bachelor of Sciences, magna cum laude, in biochemistry and cell biology with a neuroscience minor from Rice University. She completed a combined residency program in pediatrics and medical genetics residency (2022-2026) at Stanford University.

Dr. Keehan’s clinical and research interests include rare variant interpretation and novel disease gene discovery through collaboration with organizations like the Undiagnosed Disease Network and GREGoR Consortium (Genomics Research to Elucidate the Genetics of Rare diseases). She is also passionate about providing comprehensive clinical care to patients with Down syndrome and has a specific interest in Down syndrome regression disorder.

Dr. Keehan has been recognized for her academic excellence and contributions, including the Art Beaudet Baylor College of Medicine Genetics and Genomics Pathway Award and membership in the Gold Humanism Honor Society and Phi Beta Kappa. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Medical Genetics, and the Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group. She is dedicated to providing comprehensive, family-centered care to patients and families navigating the diagnostic odyssey of genetic testing and lifelong management of genetic conditions.
