Alejandra Bueno, MD, is an assistant professor of pediatrics and a highly accomplished pediatric cardiologist and advanced cardiac imager.
Dr. Bueno earned her Doctor of Medicine degree with summa cum laude honors from the Autonomous University of Chihuahua, Mexico. She is board-certified in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. Her extensive training includes a Pediatric Residency Program at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai/BronxCare Health System, followed by a Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami, where she served as Chief Pediatric Cardiology Fellow. She further specialized with an Advanced Imaging Fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Prior to her clinical fellowships, Dr. Bueno dedicated several years to research as a research fellow in pediatric cardiovascular surgery and pediatric cardiology at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Her commitment to advancing medical knowledge is evident in her numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international conferences, including highlighted oral and poster presentations. She has received multiple awards and grants, such as the “Academic Excellence Award” from Chihuahua’s State Government for her outstanding academic record during medical school, and travel grants from organizations like the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography.
Dr. Bueno is an active member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Fetal Heart Society (FHS). She is fluent in English and native in Spanish and has demonstrated leadership through her involvement with the Committee of Interns and Residents and participation in medical brigades in underserved communities. Additionally, she is lead cardiologist at UT Physicians Pediatric Center Cardiology in Webster, TX, and serves on the Pediatric Cardiology Outreach Team and Pediatric Cardiology HCA Core who provide a variety of cardiology services for numerous hospitals throughout Greater Houston.
