Biography
Isaac Hernandez, M.D., joined TIRR Memorial Hermann Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation’s medical staff in January of 2017. He received his medical degree from the Universidad de Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico in 2004. Dr. Hernandez completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Pinnacle Health Hospitals in Harrisburg, PA and his residency at the Baylor College of Medicine/McGovern Medical School/Alliance Program in Houston, TX in 2010. He completed a clinical fellowship in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA in 2011 and an advanced fellowship in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine at the VA Puget Sound Healthcare System in Seattle, WA in 2013. He then practiced for three years at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, KS, serving as Medical Director of Spinal Cord Injury services and as an assistant professor in the department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Hernandez is an associate professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. As an attending physician at TIRR, Dr. Hernandez’s primary focus is caring for patients recovering from spinal cord injuries. He is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation with a sub-specialty certification in spinal cord injury medicine. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
