Welcome from the Program Director – Nikola Dragojlovic, DO

Thank you for your interest in the UTHealth Houston Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Residency Program. We are an ACGME-accredited, four-year categorical residency program located in the heart of the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world. With more than 10,000 hospital beds and over 10 million patient visits annually, the Texas Medical Center provides an unparalleled environment for medical education and patient care. Our department has longstanding affiliations with many of the nation’s premier healthcare institutions, including TIRR Memorial Hermann, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Harris Health, and Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, home to the nation’s busiest Level I trauma center. Together, these world-class facilities provide a diverse and exceptional clinical training experience for our residents.

We are committed to offering a broad and comprehensive education in physiatry, in an environment that values collegiality and patient-centered care. Our residents are bright, hard-working, and help lead our department’s mission to provide high-quality physiatric care to all. As program director, I value the input and contributions of our residents and strive to ensure our curriculum grows with them. They reflect the diversity of our home, too. Houston is a fast-growing, urban city with Texas charm and an easy-to-enjoy lifestyle.

The PM&R faculty at UTHealth Houston are accomplished educators and clinicians. Our program provides ample opportunities for research with faculty from the UTHealth Houston/TIRR Neurorecovery Research Center, and a faculty-led Quality Improvement curriculum. Our didactics drawn upon the talent of rehabilitation physicians and other clinicians across the Texas Medical Center. Our alumni network is vast, crossing all subspecialties of rehabilitation medicine, in academic leadership, and in all clinical settings. Our graduates are highly sought after for fellowship and employment positions.

We have one common goal: to train the next generation of leaders in Physiatry.
