How did you hear of/learn about PM&R?

I’ve heard of PM&R intermittently in the past on social media, but more recently, my father had a herniated disc that was causing him significant pain. I knew that a physiatrist was the physician who administered his steroid shot, which restored his strength and function for his normal daily routine.

What are you most looking forward to during your PM&R elective?

I’m looking forward to seeing neurological disorders through a new lens as someone who plans to enter neurology. I’m going into neurology, but I want to hone my neurological and MSK physical exams.

Is there anything, in particular, that interests you the most about PM&R?

I’m interested in seeing how PM&R doctors and PTs develop personalized plans for patients recovering from injury/disability. I at one point considered going the PT route before medical school, so it will be interesting to see all the thought process come into fruition in patient care.
