The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at UTHealth offers a variety of experiences for medical students who are interested in the fascinating field of physiatry. These experiences include, but are not limited to – Observerships, Elective Clerkships and PM&R medical education lectures that go far beyond the scope of general physiatry.

Elective clerkships include:

*   Intro to Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (TIRR/Memorial Hermann Hospital; MHH TMC; Shriners Hospital for Children in Houston)

*   Brain Injury & Stroke Medicine (TIRR/Memorial Hermann Hospital)

*   Spinal Cord Injury (TIRR/Memorial Hermann Hospital)

Observerships:

*   Brain Injury & Stroke Medicine (TIRR/Memorial Hermann Hospital)

*   Spinal Cord Injury (TIRR/Memorial Hermann Hospital)

*   Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine (Shriners Hospital for Children in Houston; Children’s Memorial Hermann; TIRR/Memorial Hermann Hospital)

Faculty members of our department, as well as residents, fellows, and staff, are always willing to discuss PM&R with interested students. Every attempt is made to accommodate the varied needs and interests of students.
