Dr. Harvin named Burn Director of the John S. Dunn Burn Center at Memorial Hermann Hospital

John Harvin, MD, Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Acute Care Surgery has been appointed as the permanent Burn Director of the John S. Dunn Burn Center at Memorial Hermann Hospital – TMC. He has served as the Burn Intensive Care Unit Director since 2019 and as the interim Burn Medical Director since 2020. During this time, his leadership has resulted in ongoing improvements in the quality and efficiency of care.

Dr. Harvin is a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. He went on to attend the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas receiving his Doctor of Medicine in 2007. He received his Master’s in Clinical Research in 2018 from McGovern Medical School. He completed his internship and residency here at the University of Texas Medical School before completing a fellowship in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at the Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center, The Regional Medical Center at Memphis, University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He joined our faculty as an Assistant Professor in 2013.
