At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe how the surgical disparity continues to grow in sub-Saharan Africa compared to the West
  • List opportunities for skilled surgical personnel in the West to contribute to the growing surgical needs in sub-Saharan Africa are real and relevant
  • Explain how collaboration of the surgical West with sub-Saharan Africa finds its greatest potential in care for present surgical needs and training of future surgical personnel from sub-Saharan Africa as an answer to the growing surgical disparity
