Dr. Kha Dinh began his journey at UTHealth in 2007 as a medical student, where he continued his training, completing his residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. He now dedicates his expertise to caring for critically ill patients at Memorial Hermann Hospital – Texas Medical Center’s Heart and Vascular Institute. Dr. Dinh serves as the Medical Director for Sarofim 9 Advanced Heart Failure ICU, working within a multidisciplinary team to manage adult heart failure patients with mechanical devices.
Dr. Dinh’s clinical and research interests include veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and pleural diseases. He is a core member of the hospital’s mobile extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (eCPR) team. His involvement in national clinical trials highlights his commitment to advancing medicine, including contributions to the VENT-AVOID trial, which investigated extracorporeal carbon dioxide removal in acute COPD exacerbations and portable brain MRI in ECMO patients (https://doi.org/10.1161/circulationaha.124.069187).
In addition to critical care, Dr. Dinh specializes in interventional pulmonary procedures. He performs robotic bronchoscopies for lung nodule evaluation and offers bronchoscopic lung volume reduction for patients with advanced COPD and significant air trapping.
Dr. Dinh has also played a vital role in medical education. Since 2020, he has served as the Course Director for the fourth-year medical student-required Critical Care Course and actively participates in teaching during the McGovern Medical School Pulmonary Module. He takes great pride in mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows.
Outside of his clinical and academic responsibilities, Dr. Dinh enjoys spending time with family and friends, solving puzzles, exploring astronomy, traveling, and staying active through exercise.
