Dr. Sanjay Awasthi is a distinguished oncologist and researcher with extensive experience in hematology, oncology, and cancer research. He currently serves as a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology & Oncology at UTHealth Houston.
Dr. Awasthi earned his medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He then pursued a fellowship in Medical Oncology at UT Southwestern, where he developed his expertise in cancer treatment and research.
Throughout his career, Dr. Awasthi has held several prestigious positions, including Division Chief of Hematology & Oncology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Professor at the Beckman Research Institute at City of Hope. He has been actively involved in clinical research, focusing on drug resistance in cancer, metabolic pathways in oncology, and novel targeted therapies. His work has been supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Department of Defense, and various private foundations.
Dr. Awasthi has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has been recognized for his cancer research and treatment contributions.
