Biography

Dr. Puja Gandhi earned her BS in Human Biology and Anthropology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She earned her MPH from UTHealth Houston School of Public Health as well as her MD from McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston in 2018.

She completed her Internal Medicine internship at Loyola University in Chicago, IL, and went on to finish her Internal Medicine residency at McGovern Medical School in 2021. Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Gandhi practiced as a primary care physician at Kelsey-Seybold prior to returning back to McGovern Medical School in 2022 to begin a General Medicine Fellowship, where she concurrently became board-certified in Lifestyle Medicine. Dr. Gandhi now serves as Assistant Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency program.

Currently, her interests lie in lifestyle medicine as it pertains to chronic disease management and incorporating more public health education in the medical school. She is the Co-director of the Lifestyle Medicine Scholarly Concentration and Director of the Population Health Longitudinal theme in the medical school. She is also the clinical director for I-CARE, an interprofessional program that allows students to get hands-on experience with patients using telemedicine. Additionally, as she is passionate about developing future physicians who can encourage lifestyle changes for their patients, she promotes preventative care at her clinic sites by precepting Internal Medicine residents and designing lectures focusing on primary care topics. Lastly, Dr. Gandhi also works in an inpatient capacity at both LBJ/Memorial Hermann TMC with Internal Medicine residents.
