Biography

Dr. Jose Portugal, MD is a dedicated and highly skilled physician with a diverse and extensive background in medicine. Dr. Portugal graduated from Católica de Santa María University in Arequipa, Perú, and advanced specialty training at Cayetano Heredia University in Lima, Peru. Following this, Dr. Portugal completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Weiss Memorial Hospital, where he developed a strong foundation in internal medicine and patient care. He then pursued a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston/MD Anderson Cancer Center combined program.

Dr. Portugal’s areas of interest in infectious diseases include infections in immunocompromised hosts, transplant infectious diseases, fungal infections, diagnostic stewardship, central nervous system (CNS) infections, and HIV. With a robust background in Internal medicine, and Infectious diseases, Dr. Portugal brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his practice. He is committed to providing high-quality patient care and advancing the field of medicine through his dedication and expertise.
