At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Apply clinical, radiological and biochemical characteristics for the diagnosis of infected pleural effusions.
  • Explain the role of the internal medicine physician in the diagnosis and management of pleural infections.
  • Develop an algorithmic approach to the management of the parapneumonic effusion.
  • Identify the clinical features and management of Tuberculous pleural effusions.
