Biography

Dr. Stephen Patin, a native of South Louisiana, earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University (LSU) Health Shreveport in 2022. Prior to attending medical school, he completed a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in epidemiology at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans.

He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston) in 2025, where he was honored as Junior Resident of the Year in 2024. In 2025, Dr. Patin received both the UTHealth Houston Internal Medicine Alicejane Argao Award, recognizing his compassionate nature, generosity of spirit, and passionate dedication to medicine and his colleagues, and the Monica Monet Holloway Barrett, MD Award, which celebrates integrity, excellence in patient care, leadership in community service, and kindness of spirit.

During his residency, Dr. Patin participated in the two-year Leadership in Medicine track and completed the Ethics and Humanities in Medicine certificate program. He is a member of both the Gold Humanism Honor Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

Dr. Patin’s professional interests include healthcare policy, public health, and medical education. Beyond his work at UTHealth Houston, he actively volunteers with the Casa Juan Diego network of clinics. He currently serves as Chief Medical Resident and Clinical Instructor in the Department of Internal Medicine.
