For people living with scleroderma, a rare autoimmune disease, severe symptoms can become a daily struggle with no effective treatments available. At McGovern Medical School, Zsuzsanna H. McMahan, MD, MHS, is leading a clinical trial exploring microbiome transplantation, a promising approach designed to restore gut balance and improve quality of life for patients with scleroderma who face severe, debilitating digestive issues. Thanks to a generous gift from Promote Altruism, this innovative research is moving forward, offering new hope for patients around the world. “Support from Promote Altruism—and the leadership of its president, Saville Kellner—helps us advance research with the potential to transform care for people living with scleroderma,” McMahan says. “We are deeply grateful for their commitment to improving lives.”
