Desai Receives 2026 ASGE Endoscopic Training Award

Madhav Desai, MDMadhav Desai, MD, assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Endoscopic Training Award, a competitive honor supporting advanced training in gastrointestinal endoscopy.

As part of the award, Dr. Desai will complete specialized training at the Digestive Diseases Center at Showa University Koto Toyosu Hospital in Tokyo, Japan, where he will train with internationally recognized expert Haruhiro Inoue, MD, PhD.

The award includes a stipend to support travel and living expenses during the training experience and recognizes physicians committed to advancing endoscopic techniques and patient care.

This achievement highlights the continued excellence and global engagement of faculty within the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
