Bailey Honored as 2026 Memorial Hermann System Physician of the Year

Marshall Bailey, MD, and Dr. Jamie McCarthyThe Department of Internal Medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston is proud to congratulate Marshall Bailey, MD, assistant professor in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine, on being named the 2026 recipient of the Dr. James “Red” Duke, Jr. System Physician of the Year Award for Memorial Hermann Health System.

Dr. Bailey was recognized during a surprise presentation held on May 11 at Memorial Hermann Pearland, where Jamie McCarthy, MD, presented him with the award. He will also be formally recognized alongside other system award recipients during the Memorial Hermann Spring Leadership Conference next week.

According to Dr. McCarthy, Dr. Bailey was selected for exemplifying Memorial Hermann’s mission of improving health and embodying the organization’s culture of deep trust and high expectations. Colleagues describe him as a physician leader who consistently demonstrates respect, inclusivity, and compassion while ensuring patients, families, and team members feel heard, valued, and supported.

Dr. Bailey was further recognized for his commitment to Memorial Hermann’s Service Standards — safe, caring, personalized, and efficient — as well as his dedication to clinical excellence, collaborative leadership, and continuous improvement in patient care and workplace culture.

“His dedication to clinical excellence, collaborative governance, and compassionate care makes him truly deserving of being named System Physician of the Year,” McCarthy said.
