Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
  • Assess a patient’s risk for having OSA.
  • Choose the best first diagnostic test to assess for OSA (home sleep test or in-lab polysomnography).
  • Use the results of sleep testing (AHI and RDI) to diagnose and determine the severity of OSA based on current diagnostic guidelines.
  • Counsel patients regarding cardiovascular risk factors associated with OSA.
  • Know the most common treatment options for OSA.
