Ellen S. Regalado is an assistant professor in the Division of Medical Genetics at UT Health where she coordinates research studies on the genetic basis of aortic aneurysms and dissections and provides genetic counseling to research participants. She recruits individuals and families into these studies, works with the research team to find novel genes associated with aortic diseases, and facilitate return of research results to participants. Her work has contributed to the identification of gene mutations causing familial aortic disease and understanding of the clinical phenotype and risk of disease associated with these mutations. Ms. Regalado received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 1993 and a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry in 2001 from the University of Philippines at Los Baños. She received a Master of Science degree in Human Genetics from Sarah Lawrence College in 2007 and was certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling in 2009. She is also currently a part-time student pursuing a PhD degree in Epidemiology at the University of Texas School of Public Health.
