Biography

Dr. Karthik Bhandari earned his medical degree from McGovern Medical School, and completed an Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He was chosen to be a Chief Medical Resident for the Internal Medicine program, and helped navigate the program though a challenging year of COVID response. Currently, he is serves as faculty at LBJ Hospital as well as an Assistant Professor and Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Bhandari is primarily based at LBJ General Hospital.

Dr. Bhandari is a member of the AOA honor society, and was a recipient of the Hitoshi C. Nikaidoh Award for Humanism in Medicine. His career passions include medical student and resident education, as well as mentorship and wellness.

During his free time, he enjoys exploring Houston’s numerous restaurants, SCUBA diving, playing Rachmaninoff and Debussy on piano, making hand-made pasta, and catering to the insatiable demands of his rescue Siberian husky, Astro.
