Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center Cancer Center
Founded in 1925, Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center is the primary teaching hospital for the McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. Memorial Hermann-TMC provides leading-edge care in heart, neuroscience, orthopedics, women’s health, general surgery, organ transplantation and much more. As one of only two certified Level I trauma centers in the greater Houston area, the hospital provides 24/7 emergency and trauma care. Memorial Hermann Life Flight® provides emergency rescue within a 150-mile radius.
The Memorial Hermann Cancer Center-Texas Medical Center offers care personalized to meet the specific needs of each patient seeking cancer treatment. The Cancer Center at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center is credentialed as a Teaching Hospital Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. During their outpatient rotations at the Cancer Center TMC, fellows are exposed to state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment equipment and services as well as clinical trials while they treat patients under the guidance of faculty. As part of the Cancer Center’s whole-patient focus, fellows will work with a wide array of collaborators in other departments (such as surgery and radiology) and with support service specialists to provide whole-patient care.
UT Physicians Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center
Fellows on a benign hematology rotation will see patients at the UTP Sickle Cell Center, the only specialty center in Houston solely serving patients with this hematologic disorder. The Sickle Cell Center is outpatient-only and offers an infusion center, pulmonary and ultrasonography services, and walk-in urgent care.
UT Physicians Gulf States Hemophilia and Thrombophilia Center – TMC
Fellows on a benign hematology rotation will see patients at the UTP Gulf States Hemophilia and Thrombophilia Center – TMC, which serves patients with a variety of bleeding and clotting disorders associated with pregnancy and autoimmune conditions.
MD Anderson Cancer Center
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is one of the world’s most respected centers devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education, and prevention. Fellows attend a one-month bone marrow transplant rotation at this location. Fellows have the opportunity to attend elective rotations at MD Anderson, as arranged and approved by the Program Director.
