Welcome

Greetings from the Program Directors

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in the UTHealth Houston Med-Peds residency program. Our program is located in the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world. Residents are primarily trained in Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital (a private tertiary care facility), and Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital (a county hospital). Training also takes place at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (a leading comprehensive cancer center). Being in a large medical community, residents are exposed to a highly diverse patient population and see a large volume of patients with a wide spectrum of diseases. In addition, residents train with top adult and pediatric subspecialists and have exposure to a wide range of research.

Some of our program highlights include weekly med-peds noon conferences, med-peds combined wards, our own med-peds continuity clinic experience, combined fellowship training, international elective opportunities, and a large group of med-peds trained faculty. We also have continuity clinic discussions that are structured to emphasize ambulatory topics as well as board review.

Whether you are interested in primary care, fellowships, hospitalist care, academics, research, and/or international health, our program offers a wealth of opportunities to pursue different career paths. Come visit our program on the interview trail and/or feel free to contact us by email.
