Team

The MSHBC team is a dedicated group of professionals responsible for ensuring adherence to coding standards and regulations within our organization.

Coding Compliance

Coding, billing, and compliance each have distinct roles in healthcare. Compliance reviews coding and documentation mostly through a retrospective risk lens.

HCC Coding

HCC or Hierarchical Condition Category coding relies on ICD-10-CM coding to assign risk scores to patients. Each HCC is mapped to an ICD-10-CM code.

Hello. Welcome to our new McGovern Medical School Healthcare Billing Compliance page.

What does MSHBC do?

Our compliance team is a trusted source for accurate billing compliance information.  Navigating the complex world of CMS billing regulations can be confusing. For this reason, our compliance team strives to make sure all of our billing providers understand we are here to help.

Because CMS requirements are cumbersome, it is critical we deliver high quality billing compliance reviews. In addition, provide accurate documentation and coding education to all UTHealth Houston billing providers. The MSHBC team also works closely with Administrative Leaders to review:

  • New provider acquisitions,
  • Proper implementation of new service lines, and
  • Ensure all billing and documentation requirements are adhered to
