Barbara Montemayor, CCA, Pedi-Surgery & Anesthesia

Barbara Montemayor is a Compliance Coding Analyst for both the Anesthesia and Pediatric Surgery department. UT Health-Houston has been her work home for the last 12 years. Barbara believes there are always opportunities each day to laugh and learn something new.  The ever-changing healthcare rules keep us on our toes to stay knowledgeable.

Originally growing up in North Carolina with her siblings (2 brothers, 2 sisters), she later moved to Texas in 1986. It is here her journey in the medical field (1987) began as as a front desk receptionist.  As a result, she began attending Medicare seminars to learn more, and became increasingly interested in the healthcare field with each class.

Throughout Barbara’s career, has obtained the following credentials:

• AAPC: CPC (Certified Professional Coder)
• AAPC: CEMC (Certified Evaluation and Management Coder)
• AIHC: CHA (Certified Healthcare Auditor)
• AIHC: OHCC (Officer of Healthcare Compliance)
• Currently preparing for the Research Compliance Certification exam.

In her off time, she enjoys running, hiking, and spending time with her grandchildren, who keep her young. Goals for life after UT Health, include mentoring others to develop their skills in coding and auditing to achieve their professional goals.
