David Babitt, MD is a Sports Neurologist at UTHealth and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
He completed his residency at the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he served as a Chief Resident. He completed fellowship training in Sports Neurotrauma at the University of Florida, where he completed the Residents as Teachers curriculum.
Dr. Babitt specializes in treatment of concussion and other traumatic brain injury. Patients with these injuries are assessed in multiple dimensions: Physical, Cognitive, Behavioral and Mood, and Sleep. Various bedside procedures are available in his toolbox, if indicated, including onabotulinum A (Botox) for migraine, occipital nerve and other nerve blocks, and trigger point injections. He works with physical therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, and neuropsychologists to evaluate and treat many of these symptoms and support patient’s recovery.
He is dedicated to teaching resident physicians and medical students. He supervises the Resident Neurology Clinic where physicians-in-training treat a variety of patients with neurological issues.
