Dr. Joseph Cochran is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon specializing in cerebrovascular surgery, brain tumors, endovascular surgery, skull base surgery and complex and minimally invasive surgery of the spine.
Dr. Cochran received his medical degree at Chicago Medical School, and then completed his residency in neurological surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He subsequently completed a two-year fellowship in cerebrovascular/skull base/endovascular surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
Dr. Cochran is the co-author of articles published in Neurosurgery, the International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology* Physics and Annals of Advances in Automotive Medicine.
Dr. Cochran has a special interest in treating the following disorders:

- Spinal tumors

- Traumatic brain and spine injuries
Collaboration with Referring Physicians
Physicians at UTHealth Houston Neurosciences engage referring physicians in the care of their patients, keeping them informed about patient progress throughout the evaluation and treatment process. After a patient’s treatment, referring physicians receive a summary and a plan for follow-up. Our physicians encourage continued communication about each patient.
