Dr. Elsa Rodarte is an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. She specializes in movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases.

Dr. Rodarte received her medical degree in 2012, graduating magna cum laude from the Ignacio A. Santos School of Medicine at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Studies in Monterrey, Mexico. She completed her residency, fellowship, and internship at McGovern Medical School, following a postdoctoral fellowship in exocytosis and immunobiology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Her research interests include exocytosis and optogenetics. She earned the Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award from The Arnold P. Gold Foundation in 2019 and was awarded first place in the Texas Neurological Society Poster Competition in 2020.

Dr. Rodarte is fluent in English and Spanish and speaks conversational French and Italian.

Collaboration with Referring Physicians

Physicians affiliated with UTHealth Houston Neurosciences engage referring physicians in the care of their patients, keeping them informed about patient progress throughout the evaluation and treatment process. After a patient’s treatment, referring physicians receive a summary and a plan for follow-up. We encourage continued communication about each patient.
