Dr. Hussein Zeineddine is a dual-fellowship-trained neurosurgeon specializing in cerebrovascular and skull base surgery. His clinical interests span the spectrum of cerebrovascular diseases, including aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, and cavernous malformations, among others. He has expertise treating these conditions in minimally invasive endovascular techniques as well as open surgery. He also specializes in complex brain tumors, including skull base tumors such as meningiomas, acoustic neuromas, and pituitary adenomas.

For his undergraduate studies, Dr. Zeineddine majored in Biology and obtained a minor in Biomedical Engineering, which he achieved with high distinction from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. He earned his medical degree with distinction at the same institution and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. From August 2015 to March 2017, he was a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Chicago. He completed residency training in neurosurgery in the Vivian L. Smith Department of Neurosurgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, followed by fellowship training in neuroendovascular surgery, also at McGovern Medical School. He then completed an open cerebrovascular/skull base fellowship
following graduation at McGovern Medical School. He joined the faculty at UTHealth Houston in 2025 as an assistant professor.

He has won numerous awards, including the UTHealth Houston Most Valuable Resident Award from the Vivian L. Smith Department of Neurosurgery in 2023 and the Young Neurosurgeon Grant Award from the Southern Neurosurgical Society in 2025. He placed among the top five in the country on the American Board of Neurological Surgery’s primary written examination.

He has authored numerous research articles published in renowned peer-reviewed journals, including Nature, Stroke, Interventional Neuroradiology, Neurosurgery, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, World Neurosurgery, Journal of Clinical Neurosurgery, Frontiers in Physiology, and Journal of Cerebrovascular Medicine, among others. He is an ad hoc reviewer on several journals including Stroke: Vascular and Interventional Neurology; Neurosurgery; Frontiers in Neurosurgery; Operative Neurosurgery; and others. He has presented nationally and internationally.

Dr. Zeineddine is fluent in English and Arabic.

Collaboration with Referring Physicians

Physicians at UTHealth Houston Neurosciences engage referring physicians in the care of their patients, keeping them informed about patient progress throughout the evaluation and treatment process. After a patient’s treatment, referring physicians receive a summary and a plan for follow-up. Our physicians encourage continued communication about each patient.
