Now Open in Katy: Comprehensive Pediatric Subspecialty Care
Families in Katy and surrounding communities have access to a new level of pediatric care with the opening of UT Physicians Pediatric Multispecialty-Katy last October. Located on the second floor of Memorial Hermann Katy Medical Plaza 3, the 24,000-square-foot clinic brings together 14 pediatric medical and surgical specialties, including pediatric neurosurgery, under one roof.
“We’re excited to provide high-quality clinical and surgical care to the families who live in Katy and surrounding areas of West Houston,” says Manish N. Shah, MD, professor and director of pediatric neurosurgery, John P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Distinguished Chair, and THINK Neurology Chair in Pediatric Tumor Research and Innovation at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, and director of the UTHealth Houston Pediatric Movement Disorders Center. “The clinic is conveniently located at the intersection of Highway 99 and I-10, easily accessible to our patients who live even beyond Katy in Cypress, Fulshear, and Richmond. We hope families will feel welcome and make the Katy clinic their new medical home.”
Designed with physician collaboration and patient comfort in mind, the clinic features more than 35 exam rooms and a centralized check-in and check-out area. Pediatric neurosurgeons will be on site Wednesday afternoons. In addition to neurosurgery, the clinic offers a range of specialties introduced to the Katy area for the first time by UT Physicians.
The clinic is the result of years of planning and partnership between UTHealth Houston and Memorial Hermann. Leaders envisioned a regional hub that would bring high-quality pediatric specialty care to the suburbs. The integrated model benefits families by providing services such as surgical consultation and diagnostic testing in one place. It also expands access to support-service providers, such as dietitians, case managers, and social workers, ensuring a holistic approach to pediatric care.
The full list of specialties available and planned includes allergy and immunology, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, general surgery, nephrology, neurology, neurosurgery, otorhinolaryngology (ENT), plastic surgery, psychiatry, psychology, pulmonology, and urology.
