A facelift is a procedure that can be done to reduce the signs of aging on the face and neck. It involves lifting and tightening the skin and underlying tissues to create a more youthful appearance. While this procedure is very effective at lifting the face, it does not address the changes in skin texture and pigmentation that happen from sun damage over time. These can be addressed with skin resurfacing procedures and light therapy.

Surgery/Treatment Process
A facelift is performed under general anesthesia. An incision is made around the ear and can be extended into the hairline. Following incision, the skin is lifted and the tissues are tightened to smooth out wrinkles and alleviate sagging skin. Once the underlying tissues are tightened, excess skin is removed and the incisions are carefully closed to enhance healing.

Recovery Process/Downtime
After the procedure, patients will experience some swelling, bruising and discomfort. Most patients are able to return to their normal activities within 2-4 weeks but there will continue to be remodeling and improvement in the results for several months.
How Long do Results Last
The longevity of results will depend on the type of facelift performed, additional factors that may affect longevity of a facelift include age and skin quality, lifestyle factors and individual aging process. In general, a facelift can last for 5-10 years.

The cost of a face lift will vary by type of facelift performed along with any adjunctive procedures performed. We recommend an in person consultation to have a discussion about goals of treatment and perform an accurate physical exam to determine what treatment we should recommend.
Risk/Side Effects
There are risks to facelift/neck lift as there are risks to any procedure or surgery that we do. These include bleeding, infection, scarring, asymmetry, numbness, poor wound healing, unsatisfactory results and injury to underlying structures of the face, including the facial nerve. It is important to discuss these risks with your surgeon during consultation to help make an informed decision.
