Abby M. Geltemeyer, MD, is a board-certified physician in both pediatrics and internal medicine, currently serving as an assistant professor of pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. With a strong foundation in biology from Baylor University and a medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Dr. Geltemeyer has dedicated her career to advancing pediatric care and medical education. She completed her residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at UTHealth Houston (then known as The University of Houston Health Science Center), where she was recognized with multiple awards for her excellence in teaching and compassionate patient care. Since 2006, she has held academic and hospital appointments at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital.
Dr. Geltemeyer is deeply involved in clinical teaching, mentoring junior medical students and residents in ambulatory pediatrics, newborn care, and high-risk nurseries. Her scholarly contributions include peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, and co-authorship of several editions of the widely used Case Files Pediatrics series and other medical education texts. Her research interests focus on pediatric tuberculosis and public health, and she has presented extensively on these topics. She is also active in community outreach, having served as an invited speaker for Telemundo and as an interviewer for residency applicants.
