Biography

Myla Ashfaq, MS, CGC, is a board-certified genetic counselor specializing in cardiovascular genetics and international genetic counseling research. She holds a Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Arts from Ohio Wesleyan University.

Myla is particularly focused on the clinical management and counseling of patients with cardiomyopathies and arrhythmias, and she has an expanding research interest in the development and implementation of genetic counseling services in international and under-resourced settings. In recognition of her contributions to education, Myla was honored as one of the Dean’s Teaching Excellence Awardees in the 2024–25 Esteemed Educators program. She is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and is committed to advancing the integration of genetic services through patient-centered care, education, and global collaboration.
