Biography

Gabriela Del Bianco, MD, is an assistant professor in the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Division with a research focus that spans the full spectrum of discovery and development — from foundational clinical research to translating novel solutions into practical applications that improve pediatric patient outcomes. Her work centers on chronic and emergent infectious diseases, advancing understanding, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention through innovative clinical research. She also leads the design and implementation of clinical trials for new therapies, vaccines, and interventions addressing critical health challenges in children.

Dr. Del Bianco is actively involved in the development and evaluation of medical devices, particularly point-of-care technologies, to enhance diagnostics, patient monitoring, and health care delivery in diverse settings. Additionally, her research explores strategies to expand equitable and sustainable access to effective antibiotics for children, including novel development models and optimization of current treatments. Through her work, Dr. Del Bianco is committed to bridging the gap between scientific innovation and real-world impact in pediatric infectious diseases.

My research interest spans the full spectrum of discovery and development, from foundational clinical research to translating novel solutions into practical applications that improve patients’ lives.

  • Chronic and Emergent Infectious Diseases: Conducting clinical research into the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of these diseases, exploring their impact, and seeking innovative solutions to combat them.
  • Clinical Trials: Designing, implementing, and setting up clinical trials for new therapies, vaccines, and interventions to address pressing health challenges in Pediatrics.
  • Device Development: Exploring the development and evaluation of medical devices, particularly point-of-care technologies, to facilitate rapid and accurate diagnostics, improve patient monitoring, and enhance healthcare delivery in diverse settings.
  • Expanded Access to Antibiotics: Researching strategies to ensure sustainable and equitable access to effective antibiotics for children. This includes exploring novel development models and optimizing current.
