Biography

Gilhen Rodriguez, MD, MS, is an instructor in the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Division. Dr. Rodriguez joined UTHealth Houston in 2009 and became deeply involved in both clinical practice and research, particularly in the field of pediatric infectious diseases. In this role, she contributed meaningfully to the understanding and treatment of complex infectious conditions affecting children.

The COVID-19 pandemic marked a pivotal point in her career, highlighting the profound transformation occurring at the intersection of healthcare and technology. Motivated by the rapid evolution of digital health and the growing importance of healthcare data, Dr. Rodriguez pursued and completed a Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics in 2024.

Dr. Rodriguez is particularly interested in how health care informatics can enhance the quality of care, drive more informed decision-making, and ultimately improve population health outcomes. As technology continues to evolve at an unprecedented pace, she remains committed to integrating data-driven approaches into clinical settings, ensuring that innovations in informatics translate into real-world improvements in patient care.
