Janie Calamusa, DO, MS, is an assistant professor of pediatric critical care medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and a Master of Science in Medical Science from the University of North Texas Health Science Center and completed her pediatric residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/Holtz Children’s Hospital in Miami, Florida. She subsequently completed her fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at UTHealth Houston, where she also served as chief fellow.
Dr. Calamusa is board-certified in pediatrics and board-eligible in pediatric critical care. Her academic interests include pediatric trauma and transfusion, and quality improvement in early warning systems. She is actively involved in medical education and health care quality initiatives. She has delivered invited presentations and authored peer-reviewed abstracts and publications in both pediatric critical care and basic science.
In addition to her academic responsibilities, Dr. Calamusa is a committed advocate for child health policy, serving as a key contact to the Texas State Senate. She has also contributed extensively to community health through local and international medical service.
